Protecting River Ecosystems, Pramono Leads Simultaneous Removal of Suckermouth Catfish

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung led a simultaneous operation to capture suckermouth catfish in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.

He stated that the simultaneous operation across the city’s five administrative areas is an effort to protect the river ecosystem from the invasive nature of suckermouth catfish, which are highly destructive to other fish species.

Further, a study by the Ministry of Maritime and Fisheries revealed that the population of suckermouth catfish in Jakarta has reached over 60 percent.
