Jakarta Governor Basuki  “Ahok” T. Purnama entertained hundreds of badminton athletes from 49 countries who will compete in the Tournament TOTAL BWF World Championships 2015, Saturday (8/8) night. On that occasion, Ahok promised to be a good host during the execution of the upcoming 2018 Asian Games. Various supporting facilities construction will begin this year, such as the athletes village and light rapid transit (LRT).

“There so much changes in Jakarta, I hope there would be something new in Jakarta to welcome Asian Games. We’re going to provide athlete village an LRT ground breaking,” he said.

Ahok targeted all the development could be completed before the event takes place. Various other supporting facilities will also soon be done. "We hope all facilities would be finished in 2018 and also the renovation in Gelora Bung Karno which including the addition of several venues in the complex," he told.

The LRT is designed to transport state guests. “Through LRT, the guests will be transported from Soekarno Hatta (Soetta) airport towards Kemayoran and the sport venue, Gelora Bung Karno,” he uttered.

Ahok further said that he was so glad to host the prestigious event. Because it could be a tourism promotional event for Jakarta. "We’re so delighted to host such event, the event is also as promotion way to show the great Jakarta to the world," he added.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) chairman, Fuad Basya said, this tournament will compete five numbers per puppets namely men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles.

“It’s been 26 years ago, we’ll back to host the third event of 22^nd World Championship, after being held in 1980 and 1989," he expressed.

The tournament will be held on 10 to 16 August 2015 in Senayan stadium with a capacity of 9,000 spectators. World Championships 2015 is participated by 363 badminton players from 49 countries.
