Ensuring everyone plays by the rules
East Jakarta Transportation Agency Operation Section Head, Emiral August Dwinanto said, daily mobile patrols target high-risk areas to clean up the streets.
"This operation is about ensuring everyone plays by the rules of the road and stays disciplined," he said, Thursday (1/15).
Of the 9,215 violators, 2,832 were slapped with fines, while 782 vehicles were taken off the road due to severe violations. Authorities also cracked down on wrong-way driving, issuing tickets to 1,817 motorcyclists.
Further, 792 vehicles—comprising motorbikes, three-wheelers, and cars—had their tires deflated in a "valve-removal" sting for parking violations.
"We also hauled away 2,953 vehicles for illegal parking and impounded 39 motorcycles in our 'netting' operations," he explained.
In a show of force, around 45 personnel—comprising the Transportation Agency, Traffic Police, and Elite Units like Brimob and Military Police—was deployed to the field. These agencies are teaming up to ensure the operation covers all bases.
