Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has instructed the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) to conduct Weather Modification Operations (OMC) for five days, starting January 13, 2026.

To carry out weather modification for these five days

The move is a preemptive measure to anticipate extreme weather and minimize the impact of flooding in Jakarta.

"I have ordered them (BPBD) to carry out weather modification for these five days," he stated at Grand Indonesia Mall, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (1/14).

He emphasized that weather intervention is a cost-effective strategy to manage rainfall.

The city has allocated a special budget for a 30-day operation, arguing that the cost of modification is significantly lower than the potential economic losses from major flooding.

"We have ordered weather modification for the next five days. Our goal is to ensure the situation is handled much more effectively," he closed.
