The Pademangan Sub-district Water Resources Executing Unit, North Jakarta keeps optimizing the dredging of the Ancol Barat Connecting Channel on Jalan Ancol Barat III, RW 01, Ancol Urban Village.
Now, the water flow is smoother
Thus far, the dredging progress has touched 65 percent of the target.
Pademangan Sub-district SDA Executing Unit Head, Dewi Marlina said, the dredging of mud and trash in the channel is done to prevent potential flooding or inundation.
"Previously, we did it manually, but we deployed one heavy equipment unit and three dump trucks to transport the mud to PLTU Ancol and also to accelerate the dredging," she expressed, Wednesday (12/10).
She explained, the dredging is planned to be 428 meters long, 2.5 meters wide, and two meters deep. The mud has been dredged about one to 1.5 meters.
"The total volume of mud successfully dredged so far has reached 599 cubic meters, or the project progress has reached 65 percent," she explained.
According to her, this has been underway since November 11 and is targeted to be completed by the end of January. This effort is very important to maintain the optimal function of the channels in conveying water, especially during heavy rainfall.
"After this is completed, hopefully the flooding in Ancol and the surrounding areas will be resolved for everyone's comfort," she explained.
One of the locals, Wardoyo (60) admitted that he has felt the positive effects of dredging because the floods that often occurred in his area have now started to decrease.
"Now, the water flow is smoother. Hopefully, after it's finished, our area will no longer flood during heavy rain," he stated.
