The Jakarta government held the National Health Day 2025 (HKN) provincial level celebration at the Balai Agung Great Hall, Jakarta City Hall, Friday (12/5).

Stroke is currently the leading cause of death in Indonesia

In activities themed "Healthy Generation, Great Future," the launch of Jakarta Community Health Center Management Information System (JakSimpus) and the inauguration of Jakarta Stroke Alert were also conducted.

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, explained that the HKN celebration activities are important as part of health education efforts. Moreover, the activities also included the launch of Jakarta Siaga Stroke 2026 and the launch of the JakSimpus application.

"Stroke is currently the leading cause of death in Indonesia. Therefore, we are launching a campaign for early stroke prevention through various means, including healthy lifestyle habits and others," he expressed.

He explained, the stroke prevention movement launched in Jakarta is supported by relatively complete facilities. Moreover, the JakSimpus application was also launched simultaneously.

The JakSimpus application will integrate healthcare services from the community health centers to referral hospitals. As a result, the service is expected to provide stroke treatment within the golden period of 4.5 hours.

Pramono has also instructed the Head of the Health Agency to have the White Army assist with stroke management. Thus far, the White Army, consisting of 584 personnel, has been dedicated solely to providing care for disabled individuals and the elderly.

He also admitted that he would intensify early stroke prevention education through various means, including healthy living habits and regular exercise.

"May the efforts we are making be able to reduce the death rate and the impact of disability caused by stroke in Jakarta," he asserted.

Health Vice Ministry, Dante Saksono Harbuano, appreciated the HKN celebration and the stroke alert declaration in Jakarta. He said that this declaration makes Jakarta the first province to declare stroke readiness.

He acknowledged that stroke is one of the leading causes of health-related expenses alongside cancer, heart disease, and kidney disease. He notes that each year, the number of deaths triggered by stroke in Indonesia reaches 350,000 cases.

Moreover, considering the financial burden if a patient suffers a stroke and can be saved but becomes disabled and unable to work. This causes the patient to need assistance from others, resulting in prolonged economic impacts.

Then, regarding the JakSimpus application, he specifically appreciated the app that can simplify the service process. Because, so far, health reports have often been a barrier in service administration.

"Hopefully, this innovation can succeed and Jakarta can be a model for other regions to adopt similar innovative programs," he hoped.
