Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung acknowledged that access to clean water services in Jakarta is still unequal, especially in several areas of North Jakarta such as Muara Angke.

We are really pushing PAM JAYA

According to him, the problems demonstrate the continuing inequity in access to clean water for residents. As a result, Muara Angke residents must pay higher prices for clean water.

"Including the one in Angke, an area that actually needs clean water more, but they have to pay. And I don't think this is fair," he said, Wednesday (12/3).

For this reason, Pramono continues to encourage PAM JAYA to expand its clean water service coverage throughout Jakarta. He targets 85 percent clean water coverage for all Jakarta residents next year and 100 percent by 2029.

"We are really pushing PAM JAYA to achieve a clean water target of over 85 percent next year," he added.

Although the coverage of clean water services has increased significantly, he said it is still not enough.

The Governor is encouraging PAM JAYA to accelerate pipeline expansion projects and develop new clean water sources. It is hoped that these efforts will resolve the clean water crisis and ease the cost burden on residents.
