As many as 15 elderly residents who fall into the extreme poverty category have received assistance from Cempaka Putih District, Central Jakarta.
They are unemployed
The assistance distributed included basic necessities, wheelchairs, canes and care at social homes owned by the Jakarta Social Agency.
Head of Cempaka Putih District, Igan Muhammad Faisal admitted that his ranks routinely visit residents in three urban villages to see the social condition. Based on the results of the visit, 15 elderly residents were found to be in the extreme poverty category.
"They are unemployed. Most of them are sick and don't have a monthly pension," he said, Tuesday (12/2).
He added that those people are spread in Rawasari by five residents, Cempaka Putih Timur by two residents and Cempaka Putih Barat by eight residents.
"We have provided assistance in the form of basic necessities, diapers, including health aids in the form of wheelchairs or canes," he added.
According to him, his ranks have also sent two of the 15 elderly residents to a social shelter owned by the Jakarta Provincial Government to receive decent living care.
Field visits to meet with underprivileged residents were carried out together with village and district officials, the community health center team and members of the city council.
