The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) has urged residents to increase their vigilance against the potential for landslides during November 2025.
Urban village heads, sub-district heads, and residents must remain vigilant
"Urban village heads, sub-district heads, and residents must remain vigilant of potential land shifts during periods of above-normal rainfall," warned the early warning of landslide potential on the Instagram account @bpbddkijakarta, Thursday (11/27).
The post mentioned that the forecast of potential landslide areas is compiled based on an overlay of the landslide vulnerability zone map with the monthly rainfall forecast map from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
Based on information from PVMBG (Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation), several areas in Jakarta are in the High-Medium Zone, namely:
- South Jakarta, covering the sub-districts of Cilandak, Jagakarsa, Kebayoran Baru, Kebayoran Lama, Mampang Prapatan, Pancoran, Pasar Minggu, and Pesanggrahan
- East Jakarta, covering the sub-districts of Cipayung, Ciracas, Kramatjati, Makasar, and Pasar Rebo
Areas located in the middle zone have a moderate potential for land movement. In this zone, land movement can occur if rainfall exceeds normal levels, especially in areas bordering river valleys, slopes, road cliffs, or if the slope experiences disturbances.
Meanwhile, areas located in high zones have a high potential for landslides. In this zone, landslides can occur if rainfall exceeds normal levels, and old landslides can become active again.
Therefore, the Jakarta BPBD urges regional leaders and residents to anticipate disasters during above-normal rainfall.
BPBD urges residents to monitor weather developments and pay attention to early signs of land movement in the surrounding environment to prevent loss of life and property.
