About 10 PPSU personnel were deployed to create a mural under the Pondok Kopi Flyover, Malaka Jaya Urban Village, Duren Sawit Sub-district, East Jakarta.
This mural was made with the theme of harmony in diversity
Malaka Jaya Urban Village Head, Eko Purnomo Asih stated, the creation of this mural was conducted as a bid to enhance the city's aesthetics.
"This mural was made with the theme of harmony in diversity because the community here is multicultural and multi-religious," he expressed, Thursday (11/27).
He explained, murals made include images of mosques, churches, temples, and pagodas. There are also murals of Garuda, Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, religious attire or interfaith figures, as well as people dancing in traditional Indonesian clothing.
"Four pillars of the work have been completed, but two more are unfinished yet," he explained.
Hopefully, this could enhance the sense of togetherness among the diverse residents. Moreover, the residents have also made a neighborhood forum that promotes harmony.
"We also carry the theme Malaka Jaya Peduli (Care), Aman (Safe), Harmonis (Harmonious), Indah (Beautiful), Toleransi (Tolerant) (MAJAPAHIT). This MAJAPAHIT inscription is also extended along the wall under the Pondok Kopi Flyover," he added.
This work brings appreciation from one of the locals, Nurhadi (35).
"The view that once appeared messy now looks more neat and beautiful. This arrangement is very good because it serves as a corridor from Bekasi to Jakarta and vice versa," he stated.
