As many as 1,000 elderly played angklung during Car Free Day (CFD) at the HI Roundabout, Central Jakarta. The activity was held to commemorate the 15th World Angklung's Day.

I really appreciate it

In the implementation of the Regular Cultural Arts Performance for the Community held by the Jakarta Provincial Cultural Agency together with the Elderly Communication Forum (FKLU), the elderly performed several songs, such as Indonesia Pusaka, Si Doel Anak Betawi, and so on.

Deputy Jakarta Governor, Rano Karno said the performance of 1,000 elderly people playing Angklung at CFD is a challenge he gave to the management and organizing committee of World Angklung's Day.

"They came to us asking for space to play angklung at CFD. They initially had 300 people, but I told them that 300 wouldn't be noticeable, and 1,000 would be great. They finally agreed, and I really appreciate it," Rano said, Sunday (11/16).

Rano added that this Angklung performance demonstrates togetherness in preserving Jakarta, especially during the CFD. In addition to sports, performing arts performances also contribute to keeping Jakarta vibrant.

"Jakarta's global city ranking rose from 74 to 71. Activities like this should continue in Jakarta. Foreign media outlets are also present to publicize these activities, making them even more globally recognized and recognized by many other countries," he added.

The 15th World Angklung's Day commemoration was not only held at CFD, but was spread across five different points in Jakarta, such as Kota Tua and GBK.

"We're making this celebration even more prominent in the community. If everyone can perform well today, hopefully we can perform this Angklung activity here again in the New Year," he hoped.
