Jakarta women's sepak takraw team advanced to the final of the National Student Sports Week (POPNAS) XVII 2025 after defeating East Java in the semifinal match on Tuesday (11/4) at Cempaka Putih GOR, Central Jakarta. In the final, they will face Riau team today, Wednesday (11/5).
Their focus and mental state are stable
Jakarta Women's Sepak Takraw Head Coach Indra Yuliasti, explained that her students' victory, consisting of the trio Ayvonne, Nabila, and Feby, was not achieved easily.
Facing a tough opponent, they were initially nervous and lost the first set with a score of 6-15.
"Alhamdulillah (thank God), their focus and mental state are stable. They performed with enthusiasm in the second set," he explained.
He explained that they led 15-11 in the second set. In the third set, they managed to finish their opponent with a tight score of 17-16.
This time, the counterpart from East Java was relatively evenly matched with their opponent. However, their enthusiasm and focus were better, allowing them to overcome the East Java team's resistance.
Next, he admitted he would evaluate and make improvements to his students so they could perform at their best in the final match.
He hoped that the athletes would remain focused and enthusiastic, and would not be careless at the beginning of the match.
"Hopefully, tomorrow, the children can perform at their best to win the gold medal," he added.
Jakarta POPNAS XVII Sepak Takraw Team Manager, Yusuf Majid added that besides, the women's inter-team number, today the men's sepak takraw team also secured a ticket to the quarterfinals.
During the group phase in Pool B of the Men's Sepak Takraw Team Competition in 2025, Jakarta competed alongside teams from Bali Province, Lampung, Riau Islands, and South Sulawesi.
"Our recent victory allowed us to sweep all the points from all the participants in Pool B," he stated.
