Jakarta has been included in the list of the world's top 20 happiest cities in 2025, according to a recent survey by Time Out.
Jakarta ranked 18th in the global survey
In response to the survey, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung outlined his vision to make Jakarta a safe and comfortable city that brings happiness to its residents.
"I keep repeating this, even if many may not notice, that I want Jakarta to be safe, comfortable, and happy. We're ranked 18th," he said in Kebayoran Lama Utara, South Jakarta, on Monday (10/13).
Jakarta ranked 18th in the global survey. Pramono believes that the key to residents' happiness lies in their sense of solidarity and mutual assistance, particularly during challenging times.
"Although we went through a difficult time, solidarity proved to be the key. Thankfully, things have mostly returned to normal," he remarked.
The positive mood and resilience of the public are visible in the bustling atmosphere of Car Free Day, which regularly features a variety of fitness and community activities.
"For two weeks in a row, I joined Car Free Day. I was surprised to see how active it's become. There are always three or four running events, from marathons and half marathons to 5K and 10K races," he expressed.
According to Time Out's annual survey, Jakarta ranked 18th, while Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, secured the top spot. The survey gathered responses from over 18,000 residents across various countries.
