Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung shared his views on transformative leadership and the keys to his success in leading Jakarta.
"Teamwork is absolutely vital,"
He delivered this remarks as the keynote speaker at the Top Team Workshop Bank BTN at Grand Hyatt Jakarta Ballroom, on Friday (10/10).
He emphasized that the Jakarta's success is not only in it's visible transformation, but more importantly in the processes and leadership principles behind it.
"In my view, the most important thing is to learn from Jakarta is not just about its transformation, but how that process came to be," he mentioned.
He noted that the key to building a strong and effective team is the ability to collaborate with anyone. According to him, the ability to work with others, or teamwork, is essential to implementing various programs and policies.
"As leaders, we must have the principle of being able to work with anyone
. Teamwork is absolutely vital," he asserted. He also stressed the importance of cultural change, especially in terms of time discipline. He shared that he consistently applies punctuality in attending events and believes such cultural shifts are crucial.
"There is a key that I hope can serve as a reference, especially for everyone at BTN. That is hard work, discipline, and staying focused on your goals," he pointed out.
On this occasion, Pramono also brought up one of Jakarta's key issue that must be resolved: the gini ratio, or the gap between the rich and the poor. To address this, the Jakarta Provincial Government continues to expand educational assistance programs such as Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) and Jakarta Excellent Student Card (KJMU) for students from underprivileged families.
He viewed that acces to education is crucial for improving public welfare. In addition, various innovations have been introduced to sustain Jakarta's economic growth, including tax relief for restaurant businesses and the education sector.
Meanwhile, in order to increase green open space for residents, Pramono encouraged local leaders to innovate and collaborate by utilizing corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds from private companies.
"This is how I intend to improve and build Jakarta. Including what Mr. Nixon mentioned earlier about connecting JIS and Ancol," he said.
In leading Jakarta and managing governance, Pramono also stressed the importance of transparency to ensure good governance.
"I believe that if all of you approach transformation, whether it is personal, leadership, or corporate, with proper planning, it will make the process much smoother," he added.
On the other hand, PT Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) President Director, Nixon Napitupulu, said the event was held to discuss the bank's long term plans and transformation strategy.
"We're discussing BTN's transformation through 2030, and one of the key topics we wanted to hear about was inviting the Governor to share how he has lead Jakarta's transformation," he conveyed.
