South Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency personnel extinguished fire that burned rented houses on Jalan Karet Pedurenan, Karet Kuningan Urban Village, Setiabudi District.

Head of South Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency, Syamsul Huda admitted the incident was reported at 6:43 AM.

"Then we deployed 10 firetrucks with 35 personnel to the location," he admitted, Tuesday (10/7).

Huda explained that the fire, which was suspected to have been caused by a gas cylinder leak, was successfully localized at 6:59 AM.

"The firefighting process was declared complete at 8 AM. There were no casualties in the 300-square-meter rented house fire," he explained.

As many as 16 residents of the rented house lost their homes as a result of this incident.

Meanwhile, one of the residents, Subhan, said that residents had tried to put out the fire early using wet cloth and a fire extinguisher, but it was unsuccessful because the fire grew quickly.

"Thanks to the personnel for quickly handling the fire," he said.
