Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung received the visit of Centre for Liveable Cities Singapore at Balairung, Jakarta City Hall, Monday (10/6).

In this activity, Pramono explained Jakarta's transformation plans and strategies towards a sustainable and livable global city.

"I would like to express my appreciation to the Centre for Liveable Cities for including Jakarta in its 15th Leaders' Programme Study Visit in Urban Governance," he said.

As rapidly developing urban centers, he assessed that Jakarta and Singapore share the same challenges in ensuring the livability, sustainability, and resilience of cities for future generations.

The Jakarta Provincial Government, he continued, is also committed to meeting the target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent in 2030.

Jakarta Provincial Government is electrifying the Transjakarta transportation fleet, redesigning roads to encourage walking and cycling, and developing waste-to-energy processing facilities in order to achieve the target.

The city government is also repairing public buildings to increase energy efficiency and expanding green spaces.

Meanwhile, the Jakarta Provincial Government is implementing an air pollution control strategy with 68 action plans, including the implementation of low-emission zones and a public air quality monitoring platform to address air quality issues.

The Governor also outlined the Jakarta Provincial Government's efforts to address Jakarta's traffic congestion. According to a TomTom survey, Jakarta's traffic ranking has improved from being one of the 20 most congested cities in the world to 90th.

Transportation facilities improvement in Jakarta and its buffer areas is also one of the efforts to improve traffic congestion.

"This expansion aims to improve regional connectivity and promote sustainable urban mobility," he added.

Based on a Time Out survey, Jakarta's public transportation system is ranked 17th in the world and number two in ASEAN.

Pramono also explained that Jakarta has established a climate change mitigation and adaptation task force and implemented carbon pricing. This carbon pricing framework aligns with the Indonesian Carbon Exchange (IDXCarbon) to support green economy financing.

Meanwhile, for human resource development, Jakarta provides educational assistance through scholarship programs in the form of the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) Plus and the Jakarta Superior Student Card (KJMU).

"It is important for Jakarta to create human resources and human capital that are superior than before," he continued.

Meanwhile, Jakarta Assistant of Economy and Financial, Suharini Eliawati, stated the presence of the Singapore delegation was an opportunity to convey Jakarta's accelerated development to the world.

"This is an extraordinary potential as we convey to the outside world the accelerations carried out by the Jakarta Provincial Government," she stated.
