As many as 55 personnel of East Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency handled fire incident in densely populated area Jalan Kelapa Tunggal, RT 08/09, Utan Kayu Selatan, Matraman District.

Sub-agency's Duty Officer, Edi Parwoko said the fire incident, which is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit, was reported at 3:04 PM.

"We deployed 11 firetrucks with 55 personnel," he said, Monday (10/6).

Eko explained that five rented houses measuring around 100 square meters were completely destroyed by the fire.

"The extinguishing started at 2:09 PM and completed at 2:57 PM. This fire caused 25 people to lose their homes," he explained.

Meanwhile, a local resident, Sofyan (35), admitted the flames quickly grew, causing residents to panic.

"Thanks to the personnel for quickly handling the incident," he admitted.
