Fire survivors received trauma healing services at Al-Muhajirin Mosque, RT 10/07, Tangki Urban Village, especially the elderly.

12 seniors are participating in trauma healing

Tamansari Sub-district Health Center Head, Irma Sufriani said, this healing service is implemented through an innovation called BEMO, which is an acronym for Mental Health Service Development for Grandpa-Grandma.

"Today, 12 seniors are participating in trauma healing," she expressed, Thursday (10/2).

She involved eight personnel consisting of psychologists, doctors, nurses, nutritionists, and other health workers following their respective areas of expertise. One of the activities conducted was drawing, which is expected to reflect the elderly's current feelings.

In addition, her staff also held relaxation sessions to help participants feel calmer and more comfortable. Gradually, they could forget the traumatic experiences they had. Light exercise activities were also organized to keep the elderly fit and cheerful as before.

"Our hope is that at least the minds and mental health of the elderly return to normal so they can carry out daily activities properly," she hoped.

One of the elderly fire survivors, Lili, expressed her happiness with this trauma healing service. Moreover, she felt bored and burdened with worries because her house was completely burned down.

"We feel happy being cared for here. Our needs for food, drink, and health are always provided," she admitted.
