East Jakarta Urban Park and Forestry (Tamhut) Sub-agency Head, Dwi Ponangsera, stated that the cemetery began operating on Pancasila Sanctity Day. It was open to meet the burial needs of Jakarta residents.
“TPU Cipayung occupies approximately 2.4 hectares of land with a capacity of 3,080 grave plots, designated specifically for Muslim burials,” she said on Wednesday (10/1).
Dwi highlighted the importance of improving site management to ensure that cemetery services remain free from unauthorized involvement and potential illegal charges.
“We aim to optimize agency performance and strengthen public trust in our services. The management of TPU Cipayung is expected to serve as a model for other public cemeteries,” she explained.
In addition, Made Widhi Adnyana Surya Pratita, Head of Green Lane and Burial Section at the East Jakarta Tamhut Sub-agency, added that the cemetery is already staffed with security personnel and five cemetery workers to maintain and taking care of the graves.
"For administrative services, two personnel have been assigned. We want to provide the best service," he emphasized.
Widhi noted that TPU Cipayung is also equipped with chairs, tables, tents, and a wireless sound system to accommodate funeral service needs.
"There is no charge for using these facilities. If you experience any extortion, don't hesitate to report it to us," he said stressed.
He further mentioned that over 100 tabebuya trees had been planted to green the cemetery area and enhance overall comfort.
"This cemetery is also equipped with a parking area and a 300-meter-access road connecting the new TPU Cipayung to the old one, running from Cipayung Reservoir," he explained.
