Seven personnel of Central Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency Taskforce are dredging water channel on Jalan Cipunegara RT 10/01 Cideng Urban Village, Gambir, Central Jakarta.
to complete in early October
Gambir Districts Water Resources Unit Head, M Imawan said drainage is run on both sides of the 350 meter long channel with a width of 80 centimeters and a height of 120 to 160 centimeters.
"The muds that were drained were around 40 to 60 centimeters," he said, Friday (9/26).
According to Imawan, personnel transport around 200 to 250 sacks of mud from this channel every day. Hopefully the channel will be able to flow the water smoothly during heavy rain.
"The work has been running since September 6 and is targeted to complete in early October," he added.
Yopi (40), one of local residents, admitted the water in the channel has often overflowed during heavy rain and caused flooding on Jalan Cipunegara.
"The channel's capacity is not optimal due to the thickness of the mud," he admitted.
