The Tanjung Priok Water Resources Implementation Unit (SDA), North Jakarta, has completed repairing the collapsed retaining wall on Jalan Sunter Indah, RT 11/12, Sunter Jaya Urban Village.

Hopefully, it can also prevent flooding when it rains

"Part of the retaining wall has already collapsed and blocked the channel. The collapse is suspected to be caused by tree roots penetrating the rocks," stated Tanjung Priok Sub-district SDA Executing Unit Coordinator, Wardi, Wednesday (9/17).

He explained, repair is conducted manually by deploying seven personnel every day since last Monday. The channel being repaired is 27 meters long, 70 centimeters wide, and 80 centimeters deep.

"Alhamdulillah (thanks God), everything is finished. Today, only cleaning and finishing remain," he explained.

He urged local residents to maintain and take care of the retaining wall after repairs by not throwing trash into the channels.

"Hopefully, it can also prevent flooding when it rains," he hoped.

This work received appreciation from a resident from RW 12, Sunter Jaya Urban Village, Alvian Sanjaya (40).

"The response was quick and they directly made repairs. Hopefully, this can reduce the potential for flooding in our area," he stated.
