Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have shown strong enthusiasm for moving their business to the new location at Blok M Hub, following the recent controversy over rising kiosk rental rates at Blok M District.
"The response from the vendors has been overwhelming,"
This positive response, he noted, is largely due to various incentives offered by the government, one of which is two months of free kiosk rent.
"The response from the vendors has been overwhelming.
After discussions with the current management and MRT Jakarta President Director, we decided to offer a full two-month rent-free period," Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Sunday (9/7).To ensure MSMEs feel comfortable in their new kiosks, Governor also instructed repairs to air conditioning units.
"We're also assisting MSMEs who are willing to relocate to Blok M Hub by ensuring the AC units there are all repaired," he added.
With these facilities and support provided by the Jakarta Provincial Government, Pramono hopes that the Blok M area will become a new economic hub in the city.
Previously, Governor Pramono responded swiftly to address the issue of rising kiosk rental fees, which many MSMEs deemed too high. To address the situation, he coordinated with PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) President Director, Tuhiyat, to relocate affected MSMEs to an area directly managed by MRT Jakarta.
Pramono confirmed that MRT Jakarta would provide two months of free rent for MSMEs moving into the designated area.
He expressed optimism that the new space would be ideal for MSMEs, offering improved and well-organized facilities, including air conditioning and a cleaner environment.
Additionally, Pramono urged that cooperation between MRT Jakarta and a particular cooperative be suspended if it fails to honor previously agreed terms. He clarified that the rental fee hikes did not come from MRT Jakarta, but from the cooperative involved.
