PT MRT Jakarta collaborated with the Teman Hebat Berkarya Foundation to launch the 'Journey Stitching' program: Celebrating the Journey, Connecting the City, and Reviving Creativity, as one of the tangible actions of the Sustainability Road Map.
This is a form of community involvement in supporting the zero waste
Acting Corporate Secretary Division Head for PT MRT Jakarta, Ahmad Pratomo, stated that this program 'revives' used uniforms belonging to employees into products and works of art for everyday needs such as bags, shoes, lanyards, keychains, and other craft products.
"This program was launched at the Teman Hebat Berkarya Foundation office, with the distribution of 400 pieces of MRT Jakarta uniforms," he expressed, Tuesday (8/26).
This program is part of the implementation of the MRT Jakarta sustainability map action, specifically in the environmental and social aspects, with achievements in the zero waste initiative and promoting the role of the community, including people with disabilities, as agents of change.
"Through recycling old uniforms into creative and useful works, we demonstrate our commitment to sustainability issues as well as community creative economic empowerment. These recycled works will become valuable products and MRT Jakarta merchandise," he explained.
Currently, the recycling program targets employee uniforms. However, in December, a drop box launch will be conducted at all MRT Jakarta stations to accept used clothing from MRT Jakarta customers.
"This is a form of community involvement in supporting the zero waste aspect of responsible consumption and production," he explained.
As information, the Teman Hebat Berkarya Foundation is a social organization focused on empowering people with disabilities through skills training, entrepreneurial mentoring, and the development of creative works.
