South Jakarta Mayor, Muhammad Anwar led the communal work cleaning sediment and trash of Uangan River, Petukangan Utara Urban Village, Pesanggrahan District.
targeted to complete in three weeks
Anwar said that the large-scale communal work is run as an effort to prevent flooding in the area, especially during heavy rain.
"The sediment of mud and trash is already very thick. For example, the micro-channel on Jalan Ciledug Raya, which should be one meter deep, is now only about 30 centimeters deep due to the sediment and trash," he said, Sunday (8/24).
Anwar is optimistic that by optimizing the dredging of the micro and macro channels, flooding in the area will no longer occur. This is because the existing floodgates will also be able to function properly.
"This dredging work must be carried out and completed seriously. I request that it be documented so we can all monitor its progress. Furthermore, maintenance will also be carried out properly and professionally," he added.
South Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency Head, Santo explained the dredging of Uangan River is run along 400 meters.
"Inundation often occurs in this area. Our priority is dredging the Uangan River and micro channel on Jalan Ciledug Raya," he explained.
The communal work, he continued, involved 450 personnel of Rainbow Taskforce. Then South Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency also deployed 135 personnel.
"We also deploy two spider excavator and 10 dump trucks. This work is targeted to complete in three weeks," he continued.
