Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung met former Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or known as Ahok at Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday (8/20).
I will learn much from him
During the meeting, Pramono said that the two sides discussed various issues, ranging from Land and Building Tax (PBB) policy to the capital's parking system. After the meeting, Pramono stated that he would learn from Ahok how to lead Jakarta.
"I will learn much from him," Pramono said.
Meanwhile, Ahok said that he provided Governor Pramono with various input. Among other things, he explained the basic principle in determining the PBB, namely, the Taxable Value of the Object (NJOP), which must not exceed the market price.
Ahok admitted that when he was a governor, he increased the PBB rate because the NJOP at that time was much lower than the market price.
"So, we initially raised it because the selling price and the NJOP were too far apart. Then, we adjusted it," Ahok said.
However, he emphasized that the current situation is different since many properties' selling price are below the NJOP. He assesses the PBB tariff policy needs to be re-evaluated.
According to him, some regions need to consider reducing PBB next year if economic conditions continue to deteriorate.
"That's why it might need to be evaluated next year," he added.
Ahok also highlighted the policy of increasing PBB in several regions to boost regional revenue. He argued that the increase in PBB must be based on residents' condition.
Ahok and Pramono also discussed education issues. He emphasized the need to improve teacher quality so that Jakarta can become a global city.
Ahok also emphasized the importance of digitalization, one of which is in terms of parking in Jakarta.
"In my day, parking systems still used machines. Now, that's become inefficient because all parking attendants have cell phones. Digital parking could be an option," he continued.
Ahok stated that his meeting with Governor Pramono is one of his contributions to building a better Jakarta.
