Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo led the 80th Indonesian Independence Day commemoration ceremony at Jakarta City Hall courtyard on Sunday (8/17).

"This celebration is a reminder to reinforce our unity,"

Civil servants working within the Jakarta Provincial Government attended the ceremony, dressed in traditional Betawi attire such as kebaya encim and baju sadariah. Governor Pramono himself wore traditional Betawi attire known as baju demang or ujung serong.

As the ceremony inspector, Governor Pramono emphasized that the Independence Day celebration is not merely ceremonial, but a reminder to strengthen the spirit of unity, mutual cooperation, and social solidarity.

"This celebration is a reminder to reinforce our unity," he remarked.

Pramono added that the Jakarta Provincial Government is also supporting the President's directive to hold a people’s festival through the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Tourism, and MSMEs.

He noted that in addition to entertainment events, several community-participation activities were held by the five administrative cities and the Thousand Islands Regency.

"Alhamdulillah, I've received reports that everything went smoothly," he mentioned.

For your information, the 80th Indonesian Independence Day was enlivened by Independence Carnival, which took place from Monas to Semanggi.

Meanwhile, the people's festival was held from morning until night along Jalan Thamrin–Sudirman, featuring entertainment stages, fireworks, and free meals for the public.

To support the event, hundreds of Satpol PP personnel were deployed, along with 10 ambulances and health workers, 100 janitors from Environment Agency, and Dishub officers to manage traffic flow and parking pockets at several locations.
