Personnel of Central Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency has completed the dredging of connecting channel on Jalan Karet Pasar Baru Timur V RW 09, Karet Tengsin, Tanah Abang.

Tanah Abang District's Water Resources Unit Head, Eli Menawan Sari, said the drainage of the 150 meter long and 120 centimeter wide channel was carried out by six 'Blue Troop' personnel since August 13.

"The mud thickness reaches 40 centimeters, so the capacity of the channel is not optimal," she said, Thursday (8/14).

She is optimistic that the dredging will have a significant impact on overcoming inundation during rain. It is because the channel capacity is now bigger to drain rainwater.

"We also appeal local residents not to throw garbage into the channel," she admitted.

Meanwhile, Hasan (45), one of local residents, appreciated the personnel's response in handling the inundation during the heavy rain.

"Now the water enters the channel quickly," he admitted.
