Jakarta once again received the Child-Friendly Province (PROVILA) award from the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection.
This is in line with the constitutional mandate
The award was handed over directly by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Pratikno, accompanied by Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Minister, Arifah Fauzi, at the 2025 Child-Friendly City/Regency Award Night in the KH M Rasjidi Auditorium, Religious Ministry, Central Jakarta, Friday (8/8).
On that occasion, Pratikno emphasized the importance of the involvement of all parties in controlling excessive gadget use among children as a negative impact of the digital age, by building child-friendly cities that are not only habitable but also lovable.
"The average screen time of Indonesians has reached 7.5 hours per day, making children vulnerable to psychological problems and decreased cognitive abilities. Therefore, screen exposure control must be accompanied by the provision of bike lanes, playgrounds, and safe public spaces, thus our city is not only livable but also lovable," he expressed.
Meanwhile, Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Minister, Arifah Fauzi, stated the Child-Friendly Regency/City Award is a form of appreciation for the commitment and earnest efforts of regional heads and their staffs in creating a safe environment for children.
"This is in line with the constitutional mandate that requires the state to meet all children's rights, provide protection, and respect their views, as regulated in the Convention on the Rights of the Child which has been ratified through various laws and regulations," he stated.
Jakarta Child Empowerment, Protection, and Population Control Agency Head, Iin Mutmainnah, expressed her gratitude for the award Jakarta received again as a Child-Friendly Province.
She appreciates all parties who have contributed and committed to fulfilling children's rights and providing special protection for children in Jakarta.
He added, this award also serves to strengthen the spirit of the Jakarta Government to keep realizing Jakarta as not only a livable city but also a city worthy of love, as well as a child-friendly and inclusive global city.
"We are grateful and thank you for the award given to the Jakarta Province. This achievement is the result of synergy, collaboration, and hard work by all parties who have contributed and are fully committed to meeting children's rights and providing special protection for all children in Jakarta," she added, Sunday (8/10).
As information, the PROVILA award is a form of appreciation given to provinces that demonstrate a high commitment to creating a child-friendly environment, paying attention to children's rights and protection, and have strived to make all districts/cities into Child-Friendly City.
Besides earning the PROVILA award, at the city level, Central Jakarta Administration City successfully achieved the title of Child-Friendly City with the 'Utama' (Main) predicate, an increase of one level from the previous predicate, which was 'Nindya'. Meanwhile, North Jakarta, East Jakarta, and South Jakarta Administration City successfully maintained the 'Utama' predicate for KLA, West Jakarta Administration City maintained the 'Nindya' predicate, and the Seribu Islands Regency received the 'Pratama' predicate.
