South Jakarta Mayor Muhammad Anwar led the harvest of dozens of kilograms of vegetables at Seven LA Garden Farmer Group (Poktan), RT 07/07, Lenteng Agung Urban Village, Jagakarsa Sub-district.
" I encourage further development and broader implementation across neighborhoods,"
Anwar stated that today's harvest is the result of urban farming efforts aimed at maintaining food security.
"We see that urban farming activities to support food resilience here are going quite well. As per our leadership's direction, food security efforts should be encouraged within local communities," he said on Friday (1/8).
Anwar commended residents for efficiently utilizing the space and introducing innovations that support a healthy, safe, and comfortable environment.
In addition to joint harvest, his side also ensured that any issues faced by the residents were being handled well through collaboration between residents, the government, and other stakeholders.
"I hope the positive efforts here will be sustained. Regarding food security, I encourage further development and broader implementation across neighborhoods," he added.
Meanwhile, Lenteng Agung Urban Village Head, Ahmad Hasan Husaini, shared that during the harvest with residents and South Jakarta Mayor, they collected 10 kilograms of water spinach, 5 kilograms of eggplant, 3.5 kilograms each of Thai round green eggplant and bitter melon, and 4 kilograms of cucumber.
In addition, five tabebuya trees were also planted to enhance the shade, beauty, and greenery of the site.
"Some of the harvested produce will be consumed together, while some will be distributed to help meet the people's nutritional needs," he noted.
