Making Jakarta into a global city

In the forum, Pramono presented various Jakarta Government initiatives to mainstream the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into local policies and programs.

He emphasized that the Jakarta's transformation into one of the 50 global cities by 2030 is inseparable from efforts to implement sustainable development.

This requires fundamental changes in the city's attractiveness, infrastructure provision, bureaucratic transformation, political support, transparent public communication, and the quality of human resources.

"Sustainable development efforts we are undertaking are making Jakarta into a global city in line with our agenda for 2030," he expressed, Thursday (7/17).

He also highlighted some of Jakarta Government's achievements in sustainable development across various fields, such as health, city security for women, community empowerment, and cross-sector collaboration.

He reaffirmed his commitment to gender equality by providing safe and inclusive public spaces for women.

"In 2024, Jakarta recorded the lowest Gender Inequality Index nationally. Some efforts supporting this achievement include the provision of women-only buses, anti-harassment campaigns on Transjakarta buses, and extending park operating hours with better lighting and supervision," he explained.

He also emphasized that Jakarta's progress as a global city must be accompanied by strong cross-sector collaboration.

"Let's position Jakarta as a pioneer of resilient, inclusive, and globally integrated national development. Jakarta must be a place where everyone has a space, and no one is left behind," he stated.
