Jakarta Deputy Governor, Rano Karno said that Jakarta Provincial Government cooperates with Indonesian Air Force to run the Weather Modification Operation (OMC). It is aimed to anticipate extreme weather and minimize the flood impact.

"We spread salt in the sky. We can only divided them into several points since the clouds were big and gathered," Rano said, Tuesday (7/8).

Rano explained that the weather condition in Jakarta is currently entering a transitional period which makes the rain pattern difficult to predict. He also gave an example, during the Jakarta dalam Warna cultural carnival a few days ago. The weather was very bright in the morning, but heavy rain fell after noon.

"The rain started to fall at 12 PM in that day," he added.

Rano also appreciated the residents awareness for understanding the flood potential in their area. But Jakarta Provincial Government will remain run the improvement and handling in stages.

"We must improve the condition from time to time. The flood handling will be run fully in Jakarta," he stated.
