A fire broke out in a densely populated neighborhood on Jalan Hang Lekir II, RT 11/06, Gunung Urban Village, Kebayoran Baru Sub-district, South Jakarta, Thursday dawn (7/3).
Firefighters arrived quickly and put out the fire promptly
South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-agency Head, Syamsul Huda said, he received a report of the fire at 00:21 AM.
"We immediately sent 23 fire engines and 81 firefighters to the scene," he expressed.
He explained the fire that burned and scorched the two residential buildings was extinguished at 01:45 AM, and cooling was immediately done on the scene.
"There are no casualties, but 10 people have to lose their homes. Allagedly, it is caused by an electricity short circuit on the second floor of one of the houses," he explained.
One of the locals, Beni Rusti admitted that the fire came out and seemed to grow from the second floor of a resident's house, and shortly afterward, the flames quickly engulfed the adjacent buildings.
"Residents here tried to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher (APAR) but failed. Fortunately, the firefighters arrived quickly and put out the fire promptly," he closed.
