Firefighter personnel extinguished fire that burned a house at Hankam Complex, Jalan Kecapi, Kelapa Dua Wetan Urban Village, Ciracas District, East Jakarta.

East Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency Head, Muchtar Zakaria said the incident occurred at 1:36 PM.

"Residents tried to extinguish the fire, but they did not make it," he said, Monday (6/30).

He added that 14 firetrucks with 70 personnel were deployed to the scene.

"The fire caused by a electrical short was completely managed at 3:05 PM," he added.

The homeowner, he continued, known as Krispranowo (75) died at the scene.

"The body was immediately taken to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital to undergo an autopsy," he continued.

According to a local people, who is preferable unknown, the fire grew quickly.

"The fire probably came out from an electrical short in one of the rooms," he said.
