As many as 12,339 tourists were recorded vacationing in Seribu Islands during the Islamic New Year holiday until last weekend.
Tourist visits increased by 20 percent compared to usual days
Seribu Islands Tourism and Creative Economy Sub-agency Head, Sonti Pangaribuan detailed, there were 5,663 tourists on June 27; 5,045 on June 28; and 1,661 on June 29.
"Visitors are crowded because this year's Islamic New Year holiday coincides with school holidays. Tourist visits increased by 20 percent compared to usual days, which range from 700 to 800 people," she expressed, Monday (6/30).
She added, this was also due to easy access, affordable transportation fares, and cheap accommodations. Tourists can cross via Marina Ancol Pier, Muara Angke, Tanjung Pasir, and Cituis Pier.
"Usually, tourists stay for two to three days on resort islands or inhabited islands. This has a positive impact on the local economy in Seribu Islands," she explained.
Besides playing on the beach or engaging in water sports, tourists could also acquire education, ranging from turtle conservation, coral reef transplantation, and others.
"Including enjoying various typical dishes of the Seribu Islands," she explained.
She predicted that the number of tourists would continue to increase until the end of the school holidays in July. To ensure a enjoyable holiday, tourists are reminded to always monitor the weather forecast.
"And must also maintain cleanliness wherever you are," she added.
Untung Jawa Island Urban Village Tourism, Sholeh Caretaker, Sholeh stated, last year, the number of tourists reached 1,790.
On Untung Jawa Island, visitors can enjoy various activities, including playing at the Sakura Beach, Arsa Beach, mangrove forest, and the Bridal Bridge.
"This school holiday moment is what we have been waiting for. Hopefully, the number of tourists visiting Untung Jawa Island will continue to increase," she closed.
