Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, stated that development plans cannot be realized without the support of residents and require participation from all parties.

Pramono delivered this statement during the opening of Jakarta's 498th anniversary celebrarion at Banteng Field, Pasar Baru, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta on Sunday (6/22) evening.

"Bang Doel and I seek support from all residents for the development of a better Jakarta. Both of us and the entire team will sincerely work to make Jakarta safer, more comfortable, beautiful, and easily accessible from anywhere," he expressed.

He explained Jakarta celebrated its 498th anniversary. Various entertainment and theatrical videos performed during the event, showcasing the history of Jakarta's journey from the Sunda Kelapa era to the present, it is the cultural roots that shape Jakarta today.

Therefore, the future development direction would also uphold cultural roots. Thus, Jakarta could grow into one of the top global cities in the world and be culturally rich.

He admitted, there were still various issues facing Jakarta, such as traffic congestion. Therefore, so far, they have developed a mass transportation system through Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) to Jabodetabek area, called TransJabodetabek.

And also the issue of the unequal provision of clean water channels in Jakarta. By 2029, the entire Jakarta area or 100 percent of residents are targeted to be served with clean water.

Regarding the flooding issue, he explained that next month, he would issue a Governor's Regulation to normalize the Ciliwung River. Currently, micro channels and rivers were routinely being dredged again.

Of course, all of that also depends on the support of the residents. He cited, solving traffic congestion largely relies on the community's willingness to switch to public transportation.

"Let's build Jakarta to be even better. Your involvement (residents) is very important in shaping Jakarta's future," he stated.
