Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung announced the opening of Transjabodetabek new routes. The routes are Bekasi to Cawang on Friday (5/16) and PIK to Blok M next week.
This Friday we'll launch Bekasi-Cawang route
"This Friday we'll launch Bekasi-Cawang route, and PIK-Blok M next week. It is called Transjabodetabek," he said, Wednesday (5/14).
Pramono added that the Transjabodetabek service will also be free for 15 groups of people, including those who are not Jakarta residents. This step is taken as a form of support from the Jakarta Provincial Government in facilitating mobility for people in the Jabodetabek area.
The opening of Transjabodetabek new routes is part of effort in handling traffic jam in Jakarta by integrating public transportation in Jakarta with Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi (Jabodetabek).
"Hopefully I can initiate something called Transjabodetabek, not just Transjakarta. It is because traffic jams in Jakarta occur in the morning when 3.5 million people enter Jakarta and in the afternoon when they return home," Pramono added.
Pramono also conveyed the Jakarta Provincial Government commitment in handling other urban problems such as pollution, garbage, and flood. One of the efforts is normalizing Ciliwung River that contributes 40 percent of flooding in Jakarta.
"Hopefully we can handle traffic jams, pollution, garbage and flooding gradually," he stated.
