Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has reaffirmed his commitment to transforming Jakarta into a football tourism destination. He stated that the city is projected to become an international sports tourism destination in the future.
Jakarta will become a destination for football tourism
"
Jakarta will become a destination for football tourism , sports tourism. Therefore, we are trully promoting sports matches in Jakarta, including football," Pramono said after opening the U-17 Governor's Cup League at Pancoran Soccer Field (PSF) MBAU, South Jakarta, on Sunday (5/4).He explained that this year's U-17 Governor's Cup League will be participated in by 18 clubs. He hopes this competition can produce young talents who will later represent Jakarta in the 2028 National Sports Week (PON) in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
"Today, Jakarta will start a new tradition of finding players from leagues like this. Hopefully, talented players from Jakarta will emerge, and that's what I want," he emphasized.
Furthermore, Pramono mentioned that Persija Jakarta is initiating a new tradition by coming to City Hall not only after winning championships. He emphasized that the Jakarta Provincial Government will continue to support the Macan Kemayoran team in the Liga 1 competition.
"I have already told the Jak Mania Chairman, I don't want Jak Mania to come to City Hall only when they win. As we did recently, we want to start a new tradition, because it's from City Hall that Persija will achieve victory," he said.
