Jakarta residents are now able to access real time information through Jakarta Kini (JAKI) application and official website udara.jakarta.go.id to monitor the air quality of Jakarta. People are also given steps to be taken before having outside activity.

Jakarta Environmental Agency Head, said air quality information presented through JAKI and udara.jakarta.go.id uses the Air Pollutant Standard Index (ISPU) in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry Number 14 of 2020.

"This ISPU is an index or number without units, which is used to describe the condition of ambient air quality in a particular location and is based on the impact on human health, aesthetic value and other living things," Asep said, Sunday (4/20).

He added that there are 111 Air Quality Monitoring Stations (SPKU) in Jakarta. SPKUs data can be accessed by the public through the official website owned by Jakarta Provincial Government that is equipped with superior features such as a geospatial map of SPKU locations, air quality rangkings from best to worst, and guideliness to take when air quality worsens.

"I appeal Jakarta residents to access the official platform due to standardized, complete and easy to understand features. This platform can be the main guide for people in making decisions when doing outside activity with valid and accurate data," he added.

Meanwhile, Director of Indonesia for Clean Air Asia, Ririn Radiawati Kusuma, explained each country has different air quality standards, adjusted to their own local characteristics.

"The air quality index in China is different from the United States, and certainly different from Indonesia. The index is usually accompanied by recommendations for outside activity that are relevant to the health conditions of the community in the area," she explained.

As a form of increasing public awareness of air issues,

Ririn also appreciated the initiative of various institutions to install air quality monitoring sensors, especially for PM2.5 parameters. She also advised the public to refer to official data from the local government.

According to Ririn, most sensors on international platforms such as IQAir are installed by most individiuals and their maintenance and validation systems information are unknown. Jakarta residents are advised to also compare the data from private parties or individuals with official government data.

"This information is an important guide for people to run their activity safely every day," she stated.
