The East Jakarta Parks and City Forest (Tamhut) Sub-agency is building a rain garden in the Mandor Hasan Taman Maju Bersama (TMB) area, Ceger Urban Village, Cipayung.

East Jakarta Tamhut Sub-agency Head, Djauhar Arifin said the rain garden was being made to accommodate rainwater and avoid overflowing waters onto streets or channels, as well as increasing the availability of groundwater.

He added the work involved 20 personnel from the Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency for soil excavation.

After excavation, the land below would be filled with stones and sand. Then the top would be covered with red soil and ornamental plants.

"This rain garden measures 5x3 square meters with a depth of 1.5 meters," he expressed, Friday (9/29).

He added it has been conducted since Monday (9/25) and is targeted to be done in the forthcoming October 2023.
