The Jakarta administration is working on building a gas pipeline network for Jakarta residents.

We want people to have alternative energy

The plan was discussed by Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono together with BUMN Vice Minister, Kartika Wirjoatmodjo at Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday (9/13).

According to the Acting Governor, it aims to provide alternative energy that the community can use, including also reducing air pollution.

"We want people to have alternative energy," he added.

BUMN Vice Minister, Kartika Wirjoatmodjo explained his party was discussing converting diesel to electricity to make it more environmentally friendly. It was done by looking at the situation where diesel is still widely used in various industries.

"Regarding green energy, in Jakarta, the challenge is pollution. We're looking for solutions, how to use green energy more widely and to encourage diesel use to be converted to electricity," she explained.

Currently, her party is in the area mapping stage, thus Jakartans can use gas pipes as alternative energy in the future. She also pushed the use of fuel products that can reduce vehicle gas emissions and have an impact on reducing air pollution.

"If possible, diesel use in housing, malls, and other places could be reduced. Also motor vehicle users from upper class society should use Pertamax Green, as it reduces emissions significantly, which is by 30 percent," she stated.
