Fire gutted 11 houses at RW 09, Penjaringan Urban Village, Penjaringan Sub-District, North Jakarta, Friday (12/19). Luckily, no casualty reported in this incident.
We deployed 16 fire trucks to the location. The fire was extinguished 1.5 hours later
The fire that broke out around 6.30 AM was allegedly triggered by electricity short-circuit in one of residents’ houses. Due to strong wind, fire quickly spread to other houses.
“We deployed 16 fire trucks to the location. The fire was extinguished 1.5 hours later,” stated Head of Operational Section for North Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department, Muchtar Zakaria.
According to Zakaria, the area that was burned is approximately 25x10 meters. The fire quickly spread because most of the houses were made of flammable materials. In addition, lack of water resources in the location made the firemen having trouble to find additional water to extinguish the fire.
“We are still unable to calculate the material loss caused by the fire,” he said.
