Formula E Chief Championship Officer, Alberto Longo assured that the implementation of the prestigious Formula E race for electric cars was in accordance with the provisions. Moreover, the costs spent by Jakarta as the host to be considered reasonable.

I can assure you that they (Jakarta) are not paying more than other countries have been paying

"I can assure you that they (Jakarta) are not paying more than other countries have been paying," he stated, in a press conference in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (11/24).

He also dismissed the issue that Jakarta was the only city that pays a commitment fee. Other cities also paid commitment fees, and the investment was beneficial for the host country.

"The investment costs spent will certainly return to the country as we held it in that place," he asserted.

He went on to say that the event was in line with the government's mission to address air quality.

According to him, the government's responsibility for pollution control could be answered by the use of electric cars. There should be a change in terms of fuel use, considering that there are too many vehicles using fossil fuels.

"It's not just a race, it's also an e-movement movement," he continued.

It should have been done since 2020, but the Covid-19 made it delayed. Thus, the remaining contracts will enter in seasons 8, 9 and 10 until 2024.

So, he hoped that it could be realized in June 2022 and will consider the continuation of this racing event in Jakarta while looking at the potential for the three years.
