The Jakarta administration is pushing Gerebek Lumpur (mud cleanup) program in five city regions of Jakarta massively and simultaneously.

Today, we will dispatch around 408 personnel from five city regions plus 46 heavy equipment type amphibious excavator and 123 dump trucks

Yusmada Faizal, Jakarta Agency Head of Water Resources (SDA) said, it has been ongoing since March 24 for East Jakarta area. It would then be continued in 4 other city areas in stages from September to December.

To execute it, he stated, the agency has collaborated with the mayor, cross-agency, urban village, and sub-district in each region by deploying more heavy equipment to speed up the dredging of mud and garbage.

"Today, we will dispatch around 408 personnel from five city regions plus 46 heavy equipment type amphibious excavator and 123 dump trucks. This is targeted to be completed by the end of this year," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Thursday (9/30).

He went on to say that it was carried out to minimize the volume of water during the rainy season in rivers and to smoothen the flow of water.
