The Central Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency continues to optimize anticipatory efforts to prevent flooding in six priority locations.

Those six locations are prone to puddles and floods and located in Johar Baru Urban Village, Johar Baru Sub-district; Karet Tengsin Urban Village, Petamburan Urban Village and Bendungan Hilir Urban Village, Tanah Abang Sub-district; Kebon Kelapa Urban Village, Gambir Sub-district and Cempaka Putih Barat Urban Village, Cempaka Putih Sub-district.

Central Jakarta SDA Sub-agency's Maintenance Division Head Glen Santista said flood mitigation efforts in Johar Baru were carried out by draining the connecting channels on Jalan Kampung Rawa and Jalan Tanah Tinggi XII, as well as making sheet piles along the Sentiong River.

"In Kebon Kelapa area, we make a long storage as a water catchment as wide as 1 meter to 2.5 meters with 75 meters long," he expressed, Monday (11/16).

He added, flood handling in Tanah Abang had been carried out, including repairing the drain, especially for sodetan in Karet Tengsin, adding a portable pump on Jalan Margono and dredging the West Flood Canal.

Aside that the sub-agency also dredged up drains along Jalan Utan Kayu until Rawasari, Cempaka Putih with a target of 2.5 kilometers length.

"We have now completed about 1.8 kilometers and it is targeted to be complete in December," he closed.
