Today, Thousand Islands Regency harvested seaweed from the cultivation for the first time. This seaweed is cultivated by coached resident in Kampung Baru, Tidung Island Urban Village, South Thousand Islands.
This harvested seaweed is the result of collaboration between Regency and local residents
In this first harvest, South Thousand Islands Sub-district Head, Angga Saputra mentioned that his side harvested eucheuma cottonii or seaweed algae as many as 50 kilograms.
"This harvested seaweed is the result of collaboration between Regency and local residents," he asserted, Thursday (11/21).
According to him, the harvest will be used for the seaweed farmers to plant seaweed again to encourage more seaweed farmers in Tidung Island.
"Until today, there are around 20 seaweed farmers in Tidung Island. Hopefully, there will be more farmers in the future thus it can improve local's economy," he stated.
