The Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Agency holds a Nutrition Campaign discussion in commemoration of National Chicken and Egg Day (HATN).

Eating eggs and chickens can improve health and support children's intelligence

There are 150 people participate in the discussion with theme "Ayam and Telur untul Indonesia Sehat dan Cerdas" (Chickens and Eggs for a Healthy and Smart Indonesia). They consist of PKK Movement Team at provincial and city levels.

To support it, there are some speakers invited, including representatives of the FAO Ectad Indonesia, the Indonesian Veterinary Medicine Association (ASOHI) and the Chairman of the Indonesian Pinsar in Local Poultry.

Jakarta KPKP Agency Head Darjamuni said this first time event is held to increase public awareness of the importance of eating chicken and eggs.

"Eating eggs and chickens can improve health and support children's intelligence," he expressed, Thursday (10/31).

He explains animal protein in chickens and eggs is a complete protein, as it has a high biological value that has the amino acid composition in the amount needed.

"The amino acid content of animal protein is more complete than in vegetable protein," he explained.

The recommended consumption of animal protein is ideally 30 percent of total protein. The proportion of animal protein consumption in Jakarta has met the recommendations, where its ideal reaches 39.04 percent.

"The most important thing is it can maintain the proportion of consumption," he stressed.

This event encourages people to adopt a balanced nutritional pattern that is by consuming animal protein.

"We want people aware of the importance of animal protein in people's nutritional consumption patterns," he stated.
