"They (IKMs) have passed the audit process and requirements," expressed Thousand Islands Industry and Energy Sub-agency Head, Melinda Sagala.

Several requirements must be fulfilled, which are having the New Entrepreneur group (WUB), production training, sustainable or continuous products, regular sales and products that meet the health (hygienic) elements according to Islamic law.

She added that those 31 IKMs are dabbling in processed food products such as fish balls, fish crackers, squid sticks, fish chips and salted fish. In addition, as many as160 IKMs have yet to receive a halal certificate.

"Hopefully this certificate is useful and can increase production and the economy of the Thousand Islands residents," she hoped.
