Some 75 service vehicles owned by West Jakarta Administration underwent an emissions test yesterday in an effort to reduce air pollution in the capital.
Those vehicles tested are consisting of 49 gasoline-fueled vehicles and 26 diesel-fueled vehicles
"Those vehicles tested are consisting of 49 gasoline-fueled vehicles and 26 diesel-fueled vehicles," disclosed West Jakarta Environment Sub-agency Head, Edy Mulyanto.
As a result, around 95 percent of gasoline-fueled vehicles passed the test and 45 percent of diesel-fueled vehicles were failed.
Similar test would also be planned on March 13-14 at Puri Kembangan and Daan Mogot malls.
"It is just intended for motorcycle. This is open for public and free of charge," he told.
It was conducted to implement Governor Regulation No. 31/2007 on Motor Vehicle Exhaust Emissions Threshold in Jakarta and No. 92/2007 on Emission Test and Motor Vehicle Maintenance in Jakarta.
"Our aim is also to realize program of Langit Biru (Blue Sky) Jakarta," he stressed.
