Fire occurred in densely populated settlements on Jl. RE. Martadinata, RW 05, Ancol Urban Village, Pademangan, North Jakarta. Hundreds houses owned by around 500 families burnt.
It is quite hard to handle the fire due to far water source and dense traffic flow that passed through railroads
North Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-dept. Head, Satriadi Gunawan said, his side got fire report around 11.26 AM. 21 fire trucks were deployed to handle the fire.
"It is quite hard to handle the fire due to far water source and dense traffic flow that passed through railroads. We finally controlled and extinguished the fire around 2.24 PM," he explained, Saturday (9/16).
Allegedly, fire was caused by electric short circuit. Because many buildings made from flammable materials, fire rapidly enlarged and spreaded to other buildings.
"We are still calculating the material loss," he closed.
