Water easily overflows to the residential due to low position of the sheet pile

The Apuran Cengkareng River's sheet pile that passes on RW 03 and 13, Cengkareng Timur, Cengkareng, West Jakarta is elevated. Based on Beritajakarta.com observations, sheet pile elevation is conducted by 25 freelancers under West Jakarta Water Management Sub-dept by digging up two sides of the riverbank.

Imam (40), a citizen of RT 04/03, Cengkareng Timur said, when it rains, residential in his region is always inundated between 30-70 centimeters.

"Water easily overflows to the residential due to low position of the sheet pile," he stated, Monday (10/10).

He hoped, such elevation could minimize flooding during rainy season in the future. "Citizens are very grateful because their village would be free from flooding in rainy season," he expressed.

Head of West Jakarta Water Management Sub-dept, Imron Syahrin explains, as the initial stage, sheet pile elevation is started by digging up two sides of the riverbank.

"Currently, the worker is still doing excavation to find the old sheet pile that covered by landslides," he expressed.

After that, it will be elevated around 1.5 meters. "For the long, still under measurement process," he finished.
